NASDSE Professional Development Series 2011-12
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has purchased a site license for distance learning opportunities from the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE). This series is available to all Massachusetts school districts and educational organizations. This year’s topics are:
|We’re Better Working Together: Recommendations for Improved Coordination Between Title I and the IDEA||As of October 26, 2011|
|Section 504 Issues for Students with Disabilities: Case Law and Implications for Practice||As of October 26, 2011|
|Providing Education Assessments Appropriate for Every Student: Is It Possible?||Spring 2012|
|It’s 2012: Do You Know Where Your RTI Is?||Spring 2012|
Who is the intended audience for the series?
The intended audience is administrators, teachers, related service providers, and families – but anyone may participate.
How does my organization sign up for the series?
Your organization can register and login as follows:
- Open your web browser to bdee for the login access code. As requested by NASDSE do not post the access code on a public website.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. It is free to all school districts and educational organizations in Massachusetts.
What equipment does my organization need in order to participate?
Each presentation will be made available online in a streaming media format. To use this option, your organization will need a computer and an internet connection capable of supporting streaming video. It can be viewed an unlimited number of times, at any time throughout the year.
If your organization would like to record the broadcast, you will need a C-band satellite dish and receiver, TV and VCR/DVR. If your organization has a MCET/Mass Learning Pike installed dish, it meets the equipment requirements. If you do not have this equipment, your local cable or satellite company may be able to assist you.
What’s new this year?
NASDSE has developed a new, fully accessible state-of-the-art web delivery system that includes features such as a searchable knowledge base of information, conference chapters for easy navigation and accurate transcription of all conference content. All of the support materials associated with the conference, such as transcripts, slides and handouts, are provided on the NASDSE website. A DVD of the individual presentation or the entire series can be requested through DESE.
What if we are unable to participate in a particular broadcast or have technical difficulties?
No problem! The online version can be viewed an unlimited number of times, at any time throughout the year. If your satellite downlink is set up, your organization can record the broadcast to show at a later date.
