Free New Bedford Activities: Easter Seals

Easter Seals Massachusetts is proud to announce the introduction of new programs in New Bedford. The focus of these programs is to support youth with disabilities, their parents and teachers by providing information and instruction on a variety of assistive technology topics.  These programs are made possible in conjunction with a Community Development Block Grant from the city of New Bedford. All activities free to the public.

Wednesday 9/26 – 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Try out various tools such as Kurzweil 3000, Dragon Naturally Speaking,

Learn more about how these tools can aid a student’s learning.

Easter Seals staff will be available for questions and assistance.

Monday 9/24 – 2:30 PM – 4:40 PM

Thursday 9/27 – 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Wednesday 9/26 – 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Monthly Presentations:   These presentations primarily focus on three key areas: Transition Planning Support; Youth Leadership and improved access and information to the Assistive Technology Regional Centers. All of these presentations will be conducted by ESMA experts.

iPad Interest Group : This group will meet once a month at the Easter Seals Assistive Technology Center at 256 Union Street. Here people can meet, share tips and tricks, and learn about new apps in an informal, relaxed atmosphere. An Assistive Technology (AT) specialist will be on hand to provide support and guidance.

Drop-in Days:
Twice per month individuals can explore a wide range of assistive technology, educational software and transition planning tools. Everyone is encouraged to explore the many AT options available; try out the technology for yourself or bring in your questions and concerns. Again, an AT specialist will be available to assist you.

We are very excited about this opportunity and encourage the participation of parents, instructors and especially, students with physical, cognitive or hidden disabilities. Persons of all ability levels are welcome! Please join us the last week of September to learn about the program details and get your copy of the events schedule for the year.
