Estate Planning, Special Needs Trust, and Protecting Benefits for Persons with Disabilities

Estate Planning, Special Needs Trust, and Protecting Benefits for Persons with Disabilities.

Catholic Social Services’ Office for Persons with Disabilities, Community Connections Inc., and the Law Firm of Surprenant and Beneski, will be presenting a workshop of Estate Planning, Special Needs Trust, and Protecting Benefits for Persons with Disabilities.  This time the workshop will be in Fall River at Community Connections Elder Day Services at 21 Father Devalles Blvd in Fall River Ma.  It will be Tuesday, October 20th from 6PM to 8PM.

This seminar will detail how to leave money, and/or estate to someone receiving public benefits (SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare) without that affecting their benefits.  Discussion will also revolve around protecting these benefits in a windfall situation (Lottery winnings, retroactive payment, lawsuit settlement) how to remain on benefits when a person receives a large lump sum payment, while protecting both the benefits and the payment. This seminar geared toward parents of persons with disabilities; care givers, social workers, and case managers who worked with persons with disabilities; and persons with disabilities interested in future planning.  The seminar will also explore the regulations and law surrounding the above topics.  Dan Surprenant of the law firm will be present to make appointments to meet with clients individually at a later date.

The seminar is free but we ask that you pre-register online http://www.cssdioc.org/ services/disabilities/ calendar.html or contact: Matthew Dansereau ( mdansereau@cssdioc.org(508) 997 – 7337) so we have some indication of the amount of people who will be attending.  Refreshments will be served.  Community Connections has plenty of parking, and is fully accessible.
